I don't remember ever going out on Valentine's Day,
but unlike my previous 14th of February, this one has been
extraordinary!
Not only did I celebrate it out, I also got a
present and on top of all; felt truly loved.
That was a first, I mean, you know both going
out and receiving a gift on Valentine! And the best part is; that was neither planned
nor intended, my two best friends –with whom I spent 6 years, laughed, cried,
went crazy, fought and studied and matured- and I were just gathering as we
always do from time to time, not that we chose this day in particular; it's the
only time we found in our busy schedules since this is my last semester, and
one of them is working and the other is engaged, but we always somehow manage
for this sacred gathering!
What I have learnt today, hearing that some
spend it lamenting not having a valentine and pitying themselves for being
single, is that we tend to rush things and we usually focus on what we don't
have rather than being happy with what we do have. Remember when we were kids;
we could not wait till we grow up, and when we were at school we could not wait
till we go to college, and when we are deprived of something or get into
trouble we tend to forget all the blessings Allah granted us with, and the same
story goes on and on, until we come to a point where we ask ourselves; have we
really lived?
Lesson of the day; savor the moment, be
patient, climb the ladder one step at a time, choose the right path; the one
guided by Allah, love your family, friends, husband, wife.
I had my perfect Valentine, have you?
Love,
Ruba
