Ramadan: the spring cleaning equivalent of the soul!

Its that time of year again: Ramadan..I happen to qualify for world's most juvenile Ramadan enthusiast! I love everything about the holy month and I find it to be the most fulfilling and soul nourishing time of the year! I love all the details of it like the mosque and crescent shaped lights, the family events and the pre-Iftar commotion, and that beautiful life instilling coffee cup after Iftar. I also love the serenity and the solitude of Tarawih prayer and last but not least the mouth watering crazy sweet cream filled qatayef!
This Ramadan will be a very special one, because as you all know I happen to be fresh out of university and I have a lot of thinking and soul searching to do and I am never as clear headed as I am in Ramadan! So I will try to be ahead of the wave and plan my Ramadan before it begins so I can get the most out of it! I planned stuff like religious practices and habits I want to do, the number of Quran chapters I want to read every day and the Duaa! I even know what I will be asking for :D I also have my reading list of the holy month it includes: Finishing The battle for God by Karen Armstrong, Orientalism by Edward Said, and The House of Wisdom by Jim Al-Khalili..I have room for one more book preferably one in Arabic so let me know if you have any suggestions! I also set away time slots for contemplating on subjects that have been problematic and need resolution!
Anyhow, I will be in touch about my progress with my plans and I would also like to hear what you have planned for Ramadan!
May the holy month bring you love and peace
Drink up
Deena

  1. I remember one day in Ramadan you finished a novel by Khaled Hosseini I think it was A thousand Splendid Suns so I am pretty sure you can do more than 3 or 4.. Allahuma bale3'na Ramadan
