Lest love blind thee!
Excuse me World! I am obliged to you for my three and twenty years. What
seems like ungratefulness as I pour my wrath is in fact a disguised gratitude,
spiced with disappointments!
Remember the first time you fell in love? Certainly not, because back
then you were floating in some chorionic fluid, dancing on the "lub dub" rhythm of your mother's heart; not
to mention wearing her knees out!
This innate and unconditional love
grows deeper roots every single day. Despite the endless arguments and fights
you have with your parents once stepping into adolescence, you find out later,
upon turning into an adult how much you resemble them! Many do transform to
their own parents!
This, in my opinion, is the
biggest mistake one makes in his/her life. Just because you were proved wrong
and your parents right many times especially during adolescence, does not mean
they have the absolute truth and it surely does not mean that you have to
imitate them.
Out of this unconditional love,
and possibly based on several other factors; like our stupidity as teenagers
and the sense of security our parents provide, we find ourselves blind to their
faults, we somehow forget they too are human beings and prone to mistakes, so
we obediently and blindly follow their path. Disabling our intellect and
allowing ourselves to be led by this love could result in serious problems; from
violence, taking over the others' properties and defending the wrongdoing, to
the lack of creativity!
This is how maturity distinguished
from adulthood. The mature, with a critical eye, is righteous even if it was on
the altar of his desires or the comfort of his beloved ones.
It would be beneficial to step
outside the picture, dwell on the values you've been raised to and reevaluate
your life. It will hurt sometimes, if you discovered that your own family was
not as perfect as you thought. You might not be able to open their eyes, and
it's going to feel bad, but it's your life now and of course they're still your
family and you will always love them unconditionally!
love,
Ruba
